Cosmos blooming 70%

Cosmos flowers are blooming.

This is the Cosmos Park in Engaru town.

It takes about 50 min from Mombetsu by car.

People say that this Cosmos Park is maybe the biggest in Japan.

Today's blooming is 70%, I think.

If good weather go on, it will be 100% after 1 week.

The Bon Dance

We have the Bon Festival in Mid August in Japan.

We believe that the spirits of our ancestors return to earth in this festival.

The Bon Dance was held at main street in Mombetsu.

Some people danced their the Yukata Kimono.

The seal "Monta" danced, too.

He is mascot character of Mombetu.

Santa girls were dancing and giving a cookie to us.

He was the first mascot character "Kurimo"

This is the old main street in Mombetsu.

It was the crowdest place 40 years ago.

You can see the three-story building on the right side.

That was the highest building back then.

It was the symbol of prosperity of Mombetsu.

First and scond floor were clothing store.

Third floor had a toy store and a restaurant.

The population was about 33,000 people at that time.

Now, the population are about 24,000 people.

This building has two bar which is called "Izakaya" in Japanese now.

Sunset at Lake Komuke

When I looked up the sky evening, it had changed to orange color.

So I went to Lake Komuke to take pictures of sunset.

The cloud was so dynamic !

Catch the Ring !

The Seal Center have held the summer event.

That's " Catch the Ring" !.

The seal in pool get the flying ring.

Of course, you can throw the ring.

The staff and the seal are good combination !

You can throw the ring three times.

The seal was quick moving and getting them well !

People enjoied it !

Next this event will have 9th,15th, 16th, start at 12:00.

Fishing boats of Mombetsu

Main industry of Mombetsu is fishing.

I show you fishing boats of Mombetsu.

First picture is the smallest boat by one or two fisherman.

Right side boats is maybe for salmon.

These boats are for scallop.

This boat shape changed to new type.

This is the biggest boat in Mombetsu.

It can get a lot of fish.

Today's the Seal Center.

Thanks to summer vacation, many children came here.

You can touch seal.

She is HIYORI-chan who is 1 year old.

Cute !

Fantastic grass rolls !

I could see the sun for the first time in a week.

Too warm  and high humidity weather had been since last saturday.

I heard that the air-conditioner was very popular at shop in this week.

Of course, almost houses in Mombetsu don't have it.

Becourse normal summer of this area is very short.

Meanwhile, it was heavy rain last night.

Water of SYOKOTSU river rose.

I went over the brige and to dairy farming area.

I took this picture of the road.

Becourse I was feeling the photogenic.

I hardly saw cows.

But I could see many grass rolls coverd plastic film.

I also saw traces of tier of tractor.

Another grassplace had too mach many rolls. Wow !

It was fantastic !

Many grass rolls on the big grassland and dynamic cloud.
