In Mombetsu, there is a 12 m statue of a crab claw. The sunrise was beautiful.
Drift ice, Icebreaker boat "garinko-gou", Seal, Eagle, etc... Mombetsu is located in northeast of Hokkaido in Japan. That port city is on the shoreline facing Sea of Okhotsk. The local guide gives the latest scene of the four seasons.

The 69th Mombetsu Minato Festival
The 69th Mombetsu Minato Festival was held at the end of last month. It's a big summer event. The fireworks display was beautiful. The dance also livened up the festival.

Excited to see the seals
Today's high is 5 degrees Celsius. It was a day when a small rain wet the road. I saw families with children in the seal center. Both adults and children were excited to see the seals.

I made it in time
I got up early today, so I went walking early in the morning. I went to the port to take a picture of a fishing boat going fishing. It's a scallop fishing boat. I sometimes ran and made it just in time.

Drift ice sightseeing
Mombetu is in the middle of drift ice sightseeing. The floating ice is the ice from the sea flowing from the north. This is a rare phenomenon even in the world.

A snowy bar district
This is a bar town in Mombetsu. It is called Hamanasu Street. Hamanasu is a flower that blooms on the coast. Snow and neon signs much.

Seal Love
The highest temperature today was 7 degrees Celsius below zero. There were foreign visitors at the seal center. I heard Chinese. The photo shows a love-scene between a zookeeper and a seal.

Snowshoeing
I guided snowshoeing yesterday. We walked in the forest park. We had coffee on the way. There were some Indonesians among the customers. Everyone was happy.

Happy New Year in JAPAN
Happy New Year. I look forward to working with you again this year. I went to Hatsumode in the early morning snow. Hatsumode means visiting a shrine. I was able to see the first sunrise on my way home. Good luck to you all this year.
