The sea ice started to melt

Today's high temperature was 4.3 degrees Celsius. It was warm, so I felt the winter was over. The ice of port started to melt. I think that tourists were taking some nice photos.

The drift ice festival illumination

The drift ice festival was over. But you can see the ice statue illumination until 24th this month. Illumination is until 10:00 pm.  If statues become fragile, they would be broken before 24th.

The drift ice arrived

The drft ice arrived yesterday. Sea was covered with white drift ice today. Pictures were taken at the Mombetsu park.

The ice-breaker boat " Garinko-go" is cruising in field of drift ice.

The Drift Ice Festival

The Drift Ice Festival started from today. Today's temperature was -12.5 degrees Celsius. It was too cold.

You can take a picture with thermometer.

The main ice statue is the Kumamoto Castl. Southern part in Hokkaido hit by big earthquake last year. And Kumamoto city in Kyusyu-island also hit by earthquake few years ago. We hope the early recovery of both places.
